Since the buildings was originally opened in the 1970’s the Romeo High School Natatorium has not been renovated and has received little to no maintenance. With the recent renovations the to convert the building to the new middle school Romeo Community Schools decided it was long over due and to renovate the natatorium.
Because the natatorium is no longer used for teaching and learning the renovations focused largely on community use and competition swim teams. To achieve the districts and community goals the locker rooms were reduced in size and relocated, this allowed for the creation of a new community activity room, family changing and shower room, elevated scoring room, additional bleachers and pool deck showers. Additional upgrades included new pool and deck tile, starting blocks and diving board, scoreboard and timing system, bleachers and lighting.
